Got this mattress for my son for his first bed. Seems a little strange that it comes rolled up, but in practice it works great: makes it smaller for shipping. The thing unrolled and sprung to it's full shape right away. As the other reviews said, there was no odor and it was ready to go immediately upon opening the package. Simple bare-bones mattress, but great for a kid.
Given that the mattress doesn't have a lot of inherent structure (it can be rolled up after all), you'll definitely need a box spring or platform-type bed underneath.

Sadly, the brand we bought before is not available in XLT, but Amazon did have this alternative Wolf brand, with similar specifications, and similar easy delivery. There are two options: a 7" reversible mattress, and an 8-1/2" non-reversible one. The 8-1/2" version costs more, but also has a longer warranty (5 years instead of 1.) Now that I've slept on the 8-1/2" version, I'm glad I opted for an extra 1-1/2" of thickness.
Our King-Size mattress had a bit of a smell when first opened, that dissipated within a day, but this mattress had no smell at all. Like the King-Size one, it arrived highly-compressed in plastic wrap within a cardboard box, and opened easily to its full size once the plastic was removed.
